Some of the best players in college football will be playing at the East-West Shrine Game at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl on Saturday, January 23 at 3:00 p.m. The 85th annual East-West Shrine Game is the oldest and one of the most respected of the post-season collegiate bowl games. Since 1925, the game has been known for the quality of the players and coaches, as well as for the excitement of great college football action, and proceeds from the game support Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The West Roster includes players from Arizona State, Brigham Young University, Stanford University, UCLA, University of Arizona, Texas A&M, UNLV, and many more. The East Roster features players from Clemson University, Lousiana State University, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, University of Miami, and Virginia Tech just to name a few.

The East coach is Romeo Crennel, who spent 28 years as an NFL coach, which included a four-season stint as head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 2005 to 2008. The West coach is Marty Schottenheimer spent 21 seasons as an NFL head coach for four teams: the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, and San Diego Chargers.

According to the official East-West Shrine Game Web site, every year since 1925, the East-West Game has been played to raise funds for Shriners Hospitals for Children and to raise awareness about the expert orthopaedic, burn, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and cleft lip and palate care, available at no charge to patients and families, through the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children. Before the game, the players will visit patients at the Shriners Hospital in Tampa.
