Wizarding World of Harry Potter close to opening

The scheduled grand opening for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure is slated for Spring 2010, and the TV commercials for this brand new “island” have already begun to appear in the Orlando market.

Some of the existing Islands of Adventure attractions have been updated to accommodate this new theme, based on the enormously successful series of Harry Potter books by author J.K. Rowling. The Dueling Dragons roller coaster has now been transformed into the Dragon challenge, featuring the Chinese Fireball and the Hungarian Horntail.

Elsewhere in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, visitors will get to experience some of the fictional places made famous by the Harry Potter books and movies, namely Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, featuring Dumbledore’s office, the defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, the Gryffindor common room, and more. The nearby village of Hogsmeade will feature shopping and dining establishments.

For more details on the upcoming opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure, visit the Universal Orlando Web site.
