Space Mountain reopens at Magic Kingdom

After seven months of refurbishment, the long wait is over for fans of Space Mountain at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Space Mountain officially reopened right before the Thanksgiving Day holiday after its first major renovation since the ride was launched in 1975.

The new Space Mountain has a recalibrated track, it is darker inside the mountain and Disney Imagineers also installed video games for guests to play while waiting in line. Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom theme park features 2 rocket-shaped vehicles consisting of 3 seats per vehicle that blast off from 2 separate tracks. It is the only version of the attraction that contains 2 separate tracks (Space Mountain has a counterpart in Disneyland that underwent even more extensive renovations).

Space Mountain is located in the Tomorrowland area of Magic Kingdom, and riders must be at least 44 inches or taller to board this ride, a Disney Fast Pass is highly recommended, especially now that visitors will want to see what’s new and different about the classic Space Mountain indoor roller coaster
