Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Roller Coaster at Universal prepares for opening

Billboards are going up, local radio stations are giving away tickets, and there’s an excitement in the air around Orlando that can only mean one thing—there’s a new roller coaster coming to town. While the official grand opening date for the Universal Studios’ Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Roller Coaster has not been announced yet, the increased promotions indicate that it will be coming very soon.

Rip Ride Rockit Roller Coaster will enable riders to create their own music video of their coaster experience; they will select a soundtrack for their ride that they will hear during the ride—advertised as the world’s most technologically advanced coaster on the Universal Web site—and have the opportunity to purchase a copy of their video afterwards. The car ascends at a 90 degree angle before racing at speeds of up to 65 mph. The ride includes never before seen maneuvers such as the Treble Clef and Jump Cut.

Universal Studios is currently testing the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, so opening day cannot be far behind.
