Universal Orlando to unveil Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit this summer

Although there is no specific date yet, Universal Studios Florida is planning to debut its newest roller coaster, the Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit, in “late spring/early summer,” according to a recent report in the Orlando Sentinel.

Universal’s Web site is promising “The groundbreaking combination of audio and special effects engineering, sophisticated on- and off-board video and one-of-a-kind personalization will take you on a roller coaster experience unlike any other.” The ride will reach top speeds of 65 mph, tower 17 stories over the Universal Studios park, and include a record-breaking loop. This will be one of Orlando’s more intense roller coasters, with a height minimum requirement of 51 inches.

In addition to some never-before seen maneuvers-- the cars' ascent will be at a 90-degree angle at 11 feet per second, followed by a plunge at 65 mph—individual riders will select from five genres of music --rap/hip hop, country, classic rock/metal, pop/disco and club/electronica --to play during the Rip, Ride and Rockit experience. After the ride, riders will be able to purchase a video of their experiences.
