Dixie Crossroads Titusville

Just a few miles up the road from Kennedy Space Center, the original Dixie Crossroads in downtown Titusville is a Space Coast institution. The restaurant is easily identifiable by the larger than life rock shrimp statues that greet the customers. Various varieties of shrimp are the specialties here, and the restaurant’s founders discovered a way to make the hard shelled rock shrimp a local delicacy.

And just what are rock shrimp? These shrimp-size crustaceans actually taste like little lobsters, and Dixie Crossroads prepares them broiled, steamed and fried (eat rock shrimp broiled and dipped in melted butter, just like you would eat a lobster. The hush puppies with powdered sugar are another Dixie Crossroads favorite--just make sure to leave room for the wide variety of seafood dishes on the menu.

With Titusville being an ideal location to watch the last two shuttle launches, be sure to enjoy a little rock shrimp with these historic launches. For more information, visit the Dixie Crossroads website.
