Wild Life In Jim Corbett National Park

Corbett national park is stationed in ramnagar town of uttrakhand. It had 520.8 square km area. It is an oldest wild life sanctuary and it’s famous for Bengal tiger and wild Asian elephant apart from that Corbett Park has huge biodiversity .its a first sanctuary to come under project tiger. For wild life researcher its a heaven because there are wide range of species 50 mammal, 600 bird species, 7 species of amphibians , 33 species of reptile, 37 species of dragonflies , 7 species of fishes and 110 plant species. Corbett is a home of many rare and endangered species who found rarely in any national park of India.

The Mammals – Bengal tiger and wild Asian elephant are main attractor along that other mammals like Himalayan bear , black bear, pangolins,

langur, rhesus, leopard, jungle cat ,fishing cat , sloth bear, black napped hare, leopard cat ,sloth bear, palm squirrel, musk- rat, long eared hedgehog and 8 kind of bats, flying fox, our kinds of deer chital(spotted deer) , Para(hog deer), samber (Asiatic deer) and muntjac(barking deer also called kakkar). Nilgai, goat –antelopes (ghorad), omnivorous wild pigs and wild boar.

Species Of Bird – there are two types of bird’s residential bird and migratory bird. Corbett has one of the richest avifauna. Like cormorant, the egrets darter, the grey heron, the cattle egret, white necked storks ,the spot bill, the large pied wagtail, white storks ,black storks, sandpipers snip, the great black headed gull ,ducks, green pigeons ,parakeets ,cuckoos ,barbets, hornbills, orioles, wood peckers, pies , babbler , thrushes, bulbuls , tailor bird, robins, chats redstarts, finches , alpine , the dusky crag martin, striated(red rumpled) swallows , owls etc.

Species of Reptile- ramganga river and lake inside the park nourish a different sort of reptile population like ghariyal (fish eater crocodile), mugger (marsh crocodile).

Snakes – typhlopidae, boidae (sand boa), colubridae (cat snake), elapidae (ex. krait, king cobra), viperidae (ex. Russell’s viper Indian).

Lizards- gekkonidae, agamidae, scincidae, varanidae.

Fishes- cyprinidae (carps), cobitidae (loaches), amblyopsidae, bagridae, sisoridae, channidae, mastacembelidae. Many type of tortoises and turtles are also found here.
