Disney World pressed coin machines

Pressed coins are a timeless and affordable pocket-sized souvenir. Pressed pennies cost 51 cents, and the slightly fancier pressed quarter machines cost $1.25. Whether they are hand operated or push button, all of the Orlando theme parks have their own pressed penny machines, with the vast majority of them in the Walt Disney World resort.

Pressed coin collectors can find these machines at the major gift shops where the rides empty out, such as the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Magic Kingdom or the Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Stand alone gift shops throughout Disney World also have coin machines, and some coin machines are where you least expect them—a few yards away from restroom entrances or directly across from the entrance to a major ride, like Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom, or the Great Movie Ride and the Rock n Roll Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The pressed coin patterns usually reflect the park’s individual theme. Epcot coins have more of an international flair while Animal Kingdom coins feature characters from the Lion King. In addition to the Disney characters, some of the more popular rides are featured as well. If you find a pressed coin machine in one of the major Disney World gift shops, chances are they might sell a Disney pressed coin passport as well, for easy storage of those special Disney World memories.
