City says no to proposed Orlando Thrill Park

While developers were planning coaster rides on the north end of International Drive, local residents were imagining the extra traffic and noise generated by a theme park literally in their back yards, which is why the Orlando zoning board recently voted unanimously to reject the proposal for the Orlando Thrill Park near the Tangelo Park neighborhood.

According to a recent article that appeared in the Orlando Sentinel, the city's Municipal Planning Board voted 9-0, with two members abstaining, to deny the zoning and land-use changes requested by backers of Orlando Thrill Park. Local residents had expressed concerns that their property values and quality of life would be adversely impacted by the new theme park, which was slated to have 14 rides, including 8 roller coasters.
