Orlando Newspapers

Although there are a number of smaller publications in and around Orlando, the publication that dominates the Orlando newspaper scene is the Orlando Sentinel. Founded in 1876—yes, there was a city of Orlando well before Disney came to town—the Orlando Sentinel is now owned by the Chicago-based Tribune Company.

Although the Orlando Sentinel is the largest Orlando newspaper, smaller publications keep residents abreast of local events as well. The East Orlando Sun and West Orange Times cover stories on the east and west sides of town, respectively, and the Winter Park Observer reports on the issues pertinent to nearby Winter Park, FL, which borders Orlando to the north just east of Interstate 4.

Orlando's newspapers cover the issues that are most pertinent to Central Florida: local and national politics, tourism and the hospitality industry, the growth of Orlando's downtown, and the space program on the nearby Space Coast.
