Sunderbans National Park And Its Accessibility

Being the UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997, Sundarbans national park was nominated for the new Seven Wonders of the World. The national park was declared as a Tiger reserve in 1973, wildlife sanctuary in 1977 and was declared as national park on 4th of May 1984.

The biggest delta of Ganga and Brahmaputra River, which is known as Delta of Sundarbasn, give a new edge to the beauty of Sundarbans National Park. The park is easily accessible by all the major cities of India. Dum Dum is nearest airport at Kolkata just 112 kms away from the park, just at the distance of 48 kms the nearest railhead Canning is placed, nearest cities which is connected by road is Namkhana (105 km), Sonakhali (100 km), Raidighi (76 km), Canning (64 km), and Najat (92 km) and the nearest major city is Kolkata which is only 112 kms from Sunderbans National Park.
