Jim Corbett National Park Welcome Note

Welcome to Jim Corbett National Park which is the first wildlife reserve of India situated in the foothills of Himalaya. This park was established in 1936 by the name of Hailey National Park, then to Ramganga National Park in 1955-56 and finally it was named Jim Corbett National Park in the honor of a hunter Jim Corbett who turned to be a conservationist.

This Park is well known for having varieties of animals and extends to an area of more than 500 sq km. Some of the main wildlife animals which are found in this national park include tiger, chital, sambar, nilgai, gharial, king cobra and many other animals in addition to 600 species of birds. Thousands of visitors from all over the world come here to visit this park. In order to avoid inconvenience to the tourists, there are many resorts and the varieties of facilities.

Corbett National park remains open all the year round for the tourists from Jhrina zone. Dhikala zone and Bijrani zone remain closed for few months as the roads of these zone washed away during the monsoons. Dhikala zone get operational from 15th of November whereas, Bijrani zone get operational from mid of October. So the best time to visit this park is from 15th November to 15th June.
