T-Rex A Prehistoric Family Adventure Opens at Downtown Disney

Newly opened at Downtown Disney: T-Rex: A Prehistoric Family Adventure. Disney’s signature nighttime hotspot is undergoing a lot of changes these days. Last month Pleasure Island shut down permanently to make way for more family-friendly attractions, and the T-Rex restaurant appears to be a sign of things to come.

The T-Rex restaurant has seating for more than 620, a couple of dozen life-size robotic dinosaurs and real fossils encased in the bathroom walls. It was created by the same creative team that brought the popular Rainforest Café to Downtown Disney, which is as much of an experience as it is a restaurant.

Since families are going to be the main target audience, kids will be able to do a little fossil digging of their own at T-Rex. Other features include a Shark Bar (for grown-ups, obviously) with its glowing glass bar, a 5,000-gallon shark tank and giant, robotic octopus; a life-size, robotic, tyrannosaurus rex; and themed dining areas such as the Geo-Tech Room and an Ice Cave.
