Spectacular Fireworks Show Welcomes Disney Magic to Port of Barcelona

Thousands of colorful fireworks filled the nighttime sky over Barcelona this evening as, for the first time, the Disney Magic cruise ship approached the Spanish port city nestled along the Mediterranean coast, signaling Disney Cruise Line's first-ever foray into the European cruise market.
In grand Spanish style, the 2,700-passenger ship was greeted by a 3,000-shell fireworks spectacular upon arrival to the Port of Barcelona. The Port of Barcelona will serve as homeport for the Disney Magic this summer as it embarks on brand new 10- and 11-night itineraries in the Mediterranean. These cruises provide families with a unique and hassle-free way to explore world-famous cities such as Rome, Florence, Naples, Cannes and Barcelona.
"This is a special way to launch our unique Mediterranean cruises," said Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin. "Our guests have told us they want to explore different parts of the world with Disney Cruise Line, and we're delighted to provide them with an authentic European experience combined with a fun, family-friendly cruise only Disney can deliver."
Continuing to offer a diverse array of itineraries, for the summer of 2008, Disney Cruise Line will reposition the Disney Magic to the West Coast for seven-night cruise vacations to the Mexican Riviera. Beginning May 25, 2008, the Disney Magic will sail 12-consecutive cruises from the Port of Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta.
The celebratory fireworks show in Barcelona was choreographed to music that played upon Disney's rich musical history and celebrated the European destinations the Disney Magic will visit this summer. Thousands of local residents gathered along the Barcelona shoreline to catch a glimpse of the Disney Magic and join the festivities. A chorus of cheers filled the ship's decks when the show paid tribute to the newly released film, "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End." The film made its debut on the Disney Magic later that evening.
Disney Cruise Line guests sailing in the Mediterranean will find several new surprises including a brand new stage spectacular at the Walt Disney Theatre, a Mediterranean-themed deck party, European-themed activities for children and family-friendly shore excursions at ports of call. To prepare for the journey, for the first time ever, iPod users can find Mediterranean-themed content at an exclusive Disney Cruise Line "store within a store" on the iTunes Web site -- including port information, travel tips and language guides.
"It was important to add new surprises for our guests during our first-ever European adventure," says Jim Urry, director of entertainment for Disney Cruise Line. "We looked for creative ways to showcase the international flavor of our destinations through onboard and excursion activities allowing the entire family to become immersed in the Mediterranean experience."
Lavish entertainment is a Disney Cruise Line hallmark, and two notable additions were developed specifically for the Mediterranean sailings. Mickey Mouse's dreams come to life in When Mickey Dreams, a musical spectacle guided by a cast of Cirque-like "dream seekers" at the Walt Disney Theatre. The show's unique, artistic nature will thrill guests, while a nightmare visit by the notorious villain Maleficent serves up a few chills.
One night during the cruise, guests will celebrate the summer in the Mediterranean at a carnival-inspired deck party called Party Paradiso. With the help of special effects designed to light up the night, Disney characters and performers ignite the spirit of fun and adventure as guests prepare to explore new horizons.
Youth counselors, who are expertly skilled at keeping children of any age engaged and entertained, will weave the cultures of the ship's destinations into many of the children's activities. Up to 70 new activities for kids 3-17 have been planned for the Mediterranean, including Crêpe-making, puppet-crafting, pizza-baking and mosaic tile-making.
Disney Cruise Line established the family market within the cruise industry when the business launched in 1998. The first two ships were purpose built for families to reconnect and recharge while creating vacation memories that will last a lifetime. From a theater featuring live musical spectaculars to a luxurious spa for adults and nearly an entire deck dedicated to children's activities, the ships truly offer something for everyone.
Limited availability remains for select Mediterranean cruises. Guests can book Disney Cruise Line's next adventure, a special summer season on the West Coast in 2008 with seven-night cruises to the Mexican Riviera, or a magical 3-, 4- or 7-night cruise vacation to the Bahamas and Caribbean from Port Canaveral, Fla. visiting disneycruise

Sikkim, one of my favorite Places

India is a vast country so people here often forget about some lesser known Places. Sikkim is one such place. Gangtok, which is the capital of sikkim is 5700 feet above sea level and bustling with activity. Trip to Sikkim at this time of the year is exciting as the temperature is not that high as many parts of the country. In Gangtok the Rumtek monastery is one of the famous place to visit. It is the seat of the Gywala Karmapa, the Supreme head of the Kagyupa order of Tibetan Budhism. The monastery is around 24km from Gangtok. Other famous place is chaangu lake which is 40 km from the city at a hight of 12400 km feet. Beside the beauty of the lake you can see the snow from very close quarters. People who lives in plains, snow is always been an exotic object. Words will not end if i start explaining the beauty of Sikkim. If you have still not visited this place don't wait longer. Blizzard Beach – Disney’s Cool Water Park for the Whole Family!

Recently I took my family to Blizzard Beach, one of Disney’s water parks, and incidentally one of my favorite places to take my husband and two sons Mitchell (age 10) and Sam (age 12) for a day of fun. It’s really economical in the big scheme of things, it offers something for children of every age group, and it’s a water park done up like only Disney could do. It is a water park designed like an Alpine Village. As a visitor you “ski” or slide down mountains, you take a “ski lift” to the top of the mountain to enjoy the water slides, or play with your little ones at “Tike’s Peak.” As you play for the day you hear Christmas Carols and see “snow everywhere,” yet the sun shines, the wave pool invites, and the sand glistens.

Blizzard Beach opens most times of the year at 10:00am and closes at 5:00pm this time of year, so of course we arrived at 9:45am, parked our car for free (one of the money saving tips at Blizzard Beach), and were already prepared with our bathing suits & sunscreen donned, our cooler packed, and smiles on our faces.

Incidentally, having a cooler with us is another money saving attribute to visiting Blizzard Beach. The fact that they allow coolers with food and drinks (no alcohol though) is a great money saving value. Although Blizzard Beach has many snack stands and food vendors including yummy homemade donuts, fried fish and French fries, salads, sandwiches, pizza, burgers, and frozen desserts, we always bring our own snacks and sandwiches as well as water and juices and fruits to satisfy us throughout our day. What we do is freeze our juices the night before to make them nice and slushy the day we are there. When Sam & Mitch are hot & sweaty after sliding and swimming and splashing the slushies are just the ticket for a refreshing treat!

Entering the park is swift and sure for us as we have annual passes, but even if you were visiting the water park for the day the lines would have been quick and painless. The crowds are thin in the months of September, October, and November (before Thanksgiving) when visiting the theme parks in Orlando, so visiting Blizzard Beach or any Disney Theme Park at this time can ensure you shorter lines and fewer crowds.

Blizzard Beach was awesome for us as always on this day. We set up camp in our usual spot which has a shady area to protect us from sunburn, a picnic table, and numerous chairs. It’s always best to get your chairs early at the water parks, because they can fill up fast. Our next step is always to assign a meeting time so that our two boys can head off for their thrill rides while my husband and I can relax for a while on Cross Country Creek, which is a wonderful, relaxing, floating tube ride. So the meeting time was set and our 10 and 12 year old boys headed off for the Summit Plummet (a completely vertical water slide AAAH!), Slush Gusher, Toboggan Racers, and Downhill Double Dipper Rides. These thrill rides are great for older teens and adults.

After lunch we enjoyed the rides that don’t require quite so much nerve like Teamboat Springs (a Family Flume type ride), Run-Off Rapids (more tube rides that end in a wonderfully cool plunge-pool), Snow-Stormers (water slides), and then we floated on the Cross Country Creek again as a family. By the way, Blizzard Beach includes life jackets for any child of any age that requires one, so no parent should be afraid of taking their child into the Cross Country Creek or any other child-friendly area. And there are life guards everywhere to help out in case you have a scare – so there really is no need for fear in the Blizzard Beach environment! The boys went off again to enjoy their thrill rides, and we relaxed in the shade, but not before we rescued some international tourists from a “bug scare.” We happened to notice quite a few international visitors swatting bugs off of them and wondering if they should leave or purchase some sort of insect repellent. We alleviated their fears because the bugs they were swatting were what we call “love bugs.” These bugs only visit Florida a couple of times per year and when they visit they stay about two weeks. They don’t bite or sting or anything. They simply fly around and land on you accidentally. As Floridians we think the theme parks should let everyone know in advance about them so that they aren’t concerned when they see them! Well, our family was happy to help out that day!

If we had toddlers or small children we would take them to “Tike’s Peak.” This are is just for children 48 inches tall or less – no bigger children are allowed. It is a beautiful area with water slides and splashing areas and climbing and swimming just for little ones. It’s a fear-free area for parents to enjoy themselves with their children in the water. Toddlers are required to wear diapers of course, but the area is completely safe and fun for babies and toddlers and pre-schoolers of all ages. It is so much fun to sit with your little ones and splash and sit in the water and slip and slide and all in a safe Disney environment! Children don’t need any swimming skill at all in this area – just moms and dads. And there are life guards there as well.

We had to leave about 3:30pm because the afternoon rain showers came to visit our sunny day, but for us the day was complete. Our day at Blizzard Beach was a success as always. To me, The Most Miserly Mom, smiles on our faces and an economical day of play makes a success!

Emeril's Orlando Tchoup Chop

. . . offers diners a unique and exotic journey through the Pacific Seas where Chef Emeril's signature bold flavors of Asian and Polynesian influences enhance the journey . . .

Emeril's Tchoup Chop (pronounced chop-chop) is the second by Emeril Lagasse at Universal Orlando. The name is meant to offer a hint of New Orleans' famous Tchoupitoulas Street, where Emeril's parent restaurant is located, and the word "chop" a bold culinary term. It is located at Universal Orlando’s hotel, the Royal Pacific Resort.

Emeril's Tchoup Chop offers a dining experience unlike any other ever created by the famous master chef. In both atmosphere and menu, Emeril's Tchoup Chop offers diners a unique and exotic journey through the Pacific Seas, a perfect complement for the Royal Pacific Resort. And the food? Chef Emeril offers diners a delicious experience complemented by his signature bold flavors of Asian and Polynesian influences.

Rhonda (Director or Events, Tasters Guild Orlando) has a friend, Jamie, in town for a few days and wanted to get together with Eddie and me for lunch the other day. We agreed that we wanted to take her somewhere different, eclectic, fun and exciting. We had all experienced this for dinner at Tchoup Chop and figured that would be our best pick.

I don’t know if you have ever been to Tchoup Chop, so allow me to take a moment and try to describe it to you. Located in the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando the décor is right out of the South Pacific. When you enter you first notice an infinity pond running virtually the entire length of the restaurant. The pond has frogs and lily pads floating lazily throughout… they are ceramic, so they will not end up on your table. The far wall is 30+ feet high and covered with stone. Running down the wall from the ceiling is water that ends at the display kitchen bar. The main bar area is just as impressive with the liquor shelves running so high a ladder is needed to reach them! There is bamboo and thatch and natural wood throughout the restaurant giving you a very organic and inviting feel. We were seated at a booth next to the pond which will comfortable seat six, but was perfect for us four (we tend to spread out and order too much food!). The music playing is not Polynesian, but is very hip and works well with the environment.

Our service team was headed up by Santana who took a moment to explain the dining experience we were about to receive and a brief description of some of the cocktails available to us. We all decided to start off our lunch with a Kilauea Bloody Mary. Eddie has one virtually every time we go to Tchoup Chop and today inspired us all to try one. The menu description is ”A volcanic eruption of heat and spice blending our very own pepper infused Sake and Tchoup Chop spices“. All I can say is WOW! Watch the fist sip… it is a doosey! The Kilauea Bloody Mary is served with a cucumber wedge and a lime. The first sip you definitely feel the spice, but after the initial shock you find the drink to be very subtle and in fact refreshing. Another cocktail favorite of mine is the Drunken Monkey Martini. You may go bananas with this flavor concoction or Macadamia and Banana flavors mixed with Myer’s Dark Rum and Cruzan Rum Cream. Have a few of these and you too will be a Drunken Monkey!

While we looked over the menu we were presented with Shrimp Chips to nosh on. If you have ever had these then you know what I am going to say next… they are addictive! The chips are served with a peanut, coconut, soy and sesame dipping sauce. After devouring a basket of these delectable chips and sauce we returned to the menu. From the menu you can order a la carte or go with the Soup and Sandwich of the Day ($17.00), or the Taste of Tchoup Chop ($19.00) which is a two course menu. During our visit the Soup of the day was Chef Nicholas’ Coconut-Chicken Curry Soup and the sandwich was Roasted Jalapeño Horseradish Marinated Chicken served on a Hoagie Bun with Vine Ripe Tomatoes, Shaved Sweet Onion, Homemade Pickle and Gaufrette (crisp, latticed potato wafers) Potatoes.

We had quite a selection between the four of us. For starters we had a Polynesian Crab Cake With Mango Habanero Butter Sauce and Papaya Salsa. This was one of the best crab cakes I have had for some time now. Unlike others out there, Chef Nicholas makes his crab cake 95% crab! I did not want to share this, but in the end everyone got a taste. We also had Tchoup Chop's Crunchy Shrimp served with Butter Lettuce Leaves and Hot & Sweet Garlic, Chile Glaze. The shrimp was coated with shredded Phyllo dough and then pan fried, served on top of the butter lettuce leaves. We drizzled the glaze over the shrimp, folded it in the lettuce and enjoyed! The textures and flavors from this were intense. From the cool buttery lettuce into the crunchy Phyllo and hot firm shrimp; then you have the subtle flavors of these and the shredded carrot and then into a blast of flavor and heat from the sauce. We also shared some BBQ Ribs, smoked with Miss Hay’s recipe for Homemade Hoisin Sauce. Miss Hay’s is from Nola, New Orleans and has created a delectable Hoisin Sauce which is sweet and spicy, and widely used in Chinese cooking. It's a mixture of soybeans, garlic, chili peppers and her secret spices. They were finger licking good!

By this time we have all realized that we were content, but there was no stopping the beast! My entrée was Turbo Wok- Mongolian Barbeque Marinated Filet Tips and Vegetable Chow Mein Noodles with Crunchy Yuca Shoestrings. The filet was so tender and cooked to a perfect medium-rare and I love the added texture of the Yuca Shoestrings on top. Rhonda had the Tchoup Chop Clay Pot with Yellowtail Snapper: Thai Spiced Tomato Broth, Shrimp, and Mussels with Steamed White Rice. When this came out everyone was jealous of her selection! Great presentation and flavors on this dish. Everyone at the table said they were going to order this on their next visit. Rhonda said the layers of flavor and textures made this an adventure for lunch. Her friend Jamie ordered Wok Fried Yellowtail Snapper served with Thai Style Noodles & Julienne Vegetables, Plum Sugar Vinaigrette – Orange Salad and Micro Cilantro. Another homerun for Chef Nicholas! Just reading the name makes your mouth water and there is nothing more for me to say about it other than perfection! Eddie enjoyed the Macadamia Nut Crusted Atlantic Salmon served with Ginger-Soy Butter Sauce, Steamed White Rice, Broccoli Rabe and Enokidake Mushrooms. To let you know what Eddie thought of it… I did not get a taste! He loved it.

Now we are definitely full… nothing else to do than order dessert!!! Ok, stick with me here… let me give you a rundown of what we ordered, and then I will tell you what we thought. First we had Emeril’s Banana Cream Pie with Graham Crust, Caramel Sauce, and Chocolate Shavings; Second was the Warm Individual Pineapple Upside Down Cake served with Caramelized Ginger Ice Cream; Third was Bitter Sweet Chocolate Glazed Peanut Butter Cream Layered Kahlua Chocolate Cake Served with Banana Foster Sauce, Pecan Pralines and Sweet Cream; and lastly, just to make sure we would burst we had a selection of Homemade Ice Cream (Praline, Cookies & Cream and Mocha White Chocolate) and a selection of Homemade Sorbets (Raspberry, Strawberry and Passion Fruit), oh, and Cappuccino. I will start off with some history for you. The recipe for the Pineapple Upside Down Cake is from Chef Nicholas’ wife. The recipe for the Kahlua Chocolate Cake is from Chef Nicholas’ Mother. Food runs in the family! The Banana Cream Pie was massive and delectable. Jamie said she was not a fan of Banana Cream Pie, but would taste anyway… she not only loved it, she went out to find the recipe (I have added it below for you)! The Pineapple Upside Down Cake is an old favorite we don’t tend to find on the dessert menus anymore. I was happy to see this and it did bring back memories. For me the hands down winner though was the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake; two of my favorite things together. When you take a spoonful of all of the flavors; the chocolate, peanut butter cream, banana foster sauce, praline and sweet cream it was like heaven. The ice creams and Sorbets were all fabulous too. We had a lot of fun trying to guess all of the flavors. It is amazing what your taste buds come up with when you blind taste passion fruit sorbet! Jamie and Eddie had a discussion on how they never order dessert, but if they all taste like this, desserts will definitely be on their list.

Most people will not eat this much for lunch and the good news is you don’t have to; unless you are a glutton for punishment like me! Emeril’s Tchoup Chop is definitely worth having for lunch, dinner or both. If you are a party of two or a party of 20 or more, Tchoup Chop is able accomodate you. Enjoy!

BANANA CREAM PIE WITH CARAMEL DRIZZLES AND CHOCOLATE SAUCE

from Emeril's New Orleans Cooking

Ingredients needed:

4 cups heavy cream

1 1/2 cups whole milk

1 1/2 cups plus 2 teaspoons granulated sugar

1 vanilla bean, split in half lengthwise and seeds scraped

3 large egg yolks

2 large eggs

1/2 cup cornstarch

Graham Cracker Crust (recipe below)

3 pounds (about 9) firm but ripe bananas, peeled and cut crosswise into 1/2-inch-thick slices

1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Caramel Sauce (recipe below)

Chocolate Sauce (recipe below)

Shaved chocolate, for garnish

Confectioner’s sugar, for garnish

There’re a few secrets necessary to successfully making this pie (which, incidentally, has been on the menu at Emeril’s since Day One, and continues to be one of our most requested desserts). First, the bananas, while ripe, need to be firm, so that they hold their shape when pushed into place. Second, the pastry cream needs to be very stiff, so that when sliced, the pie will not crumble or slide. It’s also important to cover the bananas completely with the last layer of pastry cream to prevent them from discoloring. And while at Emeril’s they pipe the whipped cream over each individual slice before serving, feel free to spread your whipped cream over the whole pie, if you’d prefer.

Combine 2 cups of the cream, the milk, ½ cup of the sugar, the vanilla bean, and the vanilla seeds in a large heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil, whisking to dissolve the sugar. Remove from the heat.

Combine the egg yolks, eggs, cornstarch, and 1 cup of the sugar in a medium bowl, and whisk pale yellow in color. Set aside.

Whisk 1 cup of the hot cream mixture into the egg yolks. Gradually add the egg mixture to the hot cream, whisking constantly. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly with a large wooden spoon to cook out the cornstarch and the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. (The mixture may separate slightly. If so, remove from the heat and beat with an electric mixer until thick and smooth.) Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a clean bowl. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing down against the surface to prevent a skin from forming. Chill in the refrigerator for about 4 hours.

To assemble, spread ½ cup of the custard over the bottom of the prepared crust, smoothing with the back of a large spoon or rubber spatula. Arrange enough banana slices (not quite one-third) in a tight, tiled pattern over the custard, pressing down with your hands to pack them firmly. Repeat to build a second layer, using ¾ cup of the custard and enough bananas to cover, smoothing down the layer evenly. For the third layer, spread ¾ cup of custard over the bananas and top with the remaining bananas, starting 1-inch from the outer edge and working toward the center. Spread 1 cup of custard evenly over the bananas to prevent discoloration. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.

In a medium bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form. Add the remaining 2 teaspoons of sugar and the vanilla extract and whip until stiff peaks form.

Remove the pie from the refrigerator. With a sharp knife dipped in hot water, cut the pie into 10 equal slices. Transfer the slices to dessert plates. Fill a pastry bag with the whipped cream and pipe onto each slice. (Alternately, spread the whipped cream evenly over the pie before cutting.)

Drizzle each slice with the caramel sauce and chocolate sauce, sprinkle with the chocolate shavings and confectioners’ sugar, and serve.

Makes one 9-inch pie, 10 servings

GRAHAM CRACKER CRUST version 2

from Emeril's New Orleans Cooking

Ingredients needed:

1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs

1/4 cup sugar

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Ingredients needed:

3/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons water

1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons to 1/4 cup whole milk

Combine the sugar, water, and lemon juice in a medium, heavy saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Let boil without stirring until the mixture becomes a deep amber color, 2 to 3 minutes, watching closely so it doesn’t burn. Add the cream, whisk to combine, and remove from the heat. Add the milk, 2 tablespoons at a time, until the desired consistency is reached. Remove from the heat and cool to room temperature before serving with the pie. (The sauce will thicken as it cools.)

Makes a generous 3/4 cup

1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Scald the half-and-half and butter in a small, heavy saucepan over medium heat. Remove from the heat.

Place the chocolate and vanilla in a medium, heat-proof bowl. Add the hot half-and-half and let sit for 2 minutes, then whisk until smooth. Serve slightly warm. (The sauce can be kept refrigerated in an airtight container for several days, but it must be returned to room temperature before serving.

LPGA STAR MORGAN PRESSEL PARTNERS WITH ANHEUSER-BUSCH ADVENTURE PARKS

Morgan Pressel, one of the LPGA’s fastest rising stars, will make appearances in several Anheuser-Busch Adventure Parks over the next year. Pressel will serve as spokeswoman for the parks’ “Champions” program, a campaign intended to inspire young women to excel in academics and athletics.
Pressel, 18, was born in Tampa, Fla., not far from Busch Gardens Africa. She spent much of her childhood in South Florida, where she regularly visited parks operated by Busch Entertainment Corp. BEC parks in Florida include Busch Gardens, SeaWorld Orlando, Discovery Cove and Adventure Island. Aquatica, SeaWorld’s water park, is scheduled to open next spring.
“I visited Busch Gardens many times growing up and I am delighted to now be in a position to bring some of the lessons I’ve learned in my golf career to visitors to the Anheuser-Busch Adventure Parks,” Pressel said. “The ‘SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Champions’ program is a wonderful way to help inspire and guide young people.”
Pressel will make appearances in BEC parks across the nation. Her appearances will include presentations to participants in the company’s “Champions” program, a campaign intended to inspire and honor young women who have committed to excellence in academic achievement and athletics. Pressel also has donated a golf clinic and dinner with SeaWorld’s Shamu the killer whale for a silent auction as part of the annual WildNIGHT fundraiser for the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund.
“Any success that I have experienced in my career has its foundation in focus, hard work and discipline. That is what I hope to impart to young women in my appearances in the Anheuser-Busch parks. You can do anything in the world if you are dedicated enough and committed to excellence in everything you do,” Pressel said.
After a successful amateur career in which the then 12-year-old Pressel was the youngest player ever to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open, she turned professional in 2006. She won her first tournament, the Kraft Nabisco, a major championship, just 15 months later. She is currently third on the LPGA money list with nearly $500,000 in earnings this year alone.
“Morgan Pressel is a wonderful role model for young people in this country and an athlete that we are honored to partner with,” said Keith M. Kasen, BEC President and Chairman of the Board. “We hope our parks do more than simply entertain people. We want our guests to experience something enriching and inspiring. That is what our ‘SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Champions’ program is about.”
Busch Entertainment Corp. is the family entertainment division of Anheuser-Busch Companies. BEC operates nine U.S. theme parks, including SeaWorld Orlando, SeaWorld San Diego and SeaWorld San Antonio; Busch Gardens Africa in Tampa and Busch Gardens Europe in Williamsburg, Va.; Discovery Cove in Orlando; Sesame Place near Philadelphia; Adventure Island, a water park in Tampa and Water Country USA, a water park in Williamsburg. Aquatica, SeaWorld’s water park, will open next spring in Orlando.

Disney vacation homes

Disney area vacation home rental is an important decision for anyone visiting the Orlando area. Disney World is one of the most popular tourist attractions on the planet. Millions of people go every year to enjoy the theme parks, the water parks, the great golf courses and restaurants as well as other great attractions Disney World has to offer. There are several other Disney World resorts around the world in cities like Paris or Tokyo, but the biggest and most loved Disney World is located in Orlando, Florida.

One of the biggest questions a tourist visiting Disney World has is about Disney vacation rental homes. They are always concerned about the kind of accommodations they should choose for the perfect Disney area vacation home rental. Disney vacation rental homes offer a good solution for several reasons: they are luxurious but much more affordable than hotels that offer similar accommodations, and most of the Disney vacation rental homes are located very close to the resort. Most Disney vacation rental homes have pools, air conditioning and other great facilities. Disney vacation rental homes are perfect, especially for family vacations. Children will love the Disney vacation rental homes because most of them offer great facilities for children.

There are two types of accommodations to be considered: Disney World vacation rental homes and Disney area vacation home rentals. The difference between the two is that Disney World vacation rental homes are offered by the Disney resort and they are usually located within the grounds of Disney World, while Disney area vacation home rentals are privately owned.

Disney World vacation rental homes can be more expensive because their main advantage is their location inside the resort. You can choose between many Disney World vacation rental homes like the Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Wilderness Lodge, the Dolphin resort, the Beach Club villas or the Boardwalk villas. Every Disney World vacation rental home has a different theme, but they can be more expensive.

Disney area vacation home rentals offer great accommodations at a lower price. Disney area vacation home rentals are close to the Disney resort and they offer facilities like self-catering in a well equipped kitchen, a pool, a television in every room, and even internet access.

Disney vacation rental homes are a great choice especially for families traveling together. Disney vacation rental homes are also suitable if you want to save some money because you make your own meals. If you share a Disney vacation rental home with another family you can also save even more on your vacation.
There are many real estate agencies that offer Disney vacation rental homes, but you should always make reservations in advance, especially if you are planning to visit Disney World during the peak of the tourist season.Learn More at: Aplusvacationhomes

SeaWorld and discovery cove celebrate mother’s day with new bundles of joy

The warming weather welcomed bundles of joy little and big to SeaWorld Orlando and Discovery Cove. From an addition to the Shamu family to the arrival of penguin chicks, SeaWorld’s animal inhabitants will enjoy Mother’s Day with the newest additions to their family.
SeaWorld welcomed a new baby killer whale to the Shamu family this past March, bringing the killer whale pod at SeaWorld Orlando to nine whales, ranging in size from a 350-pound calf to a 12,000-pound male. SeaWorld's killer whale breeding program is the most successful in the world.
SeaWorld’s feathered friends also welcomed new arrivals in the form of six endangered Nene geese and 16 penguin chicks. The penguins represent a variety of species, including the first Adelie chicks in SeaWorld Orlando history. As they continue to grow into full maturity, the chicks will cuddle up in the Penguin Encounter which is kept at a chilly 30 degrees with six thousand pounds of snow falling daily.
Three new harbor seal pups join more than 80 animals living at SeaWorld’s pacific Point Preserve, including California sea lions, harbor seals and one fur seal. As the weather gets warmer, SeaWorld anticipates the arrival of sea lion pups this summer.
Discovery Cove celebrated the arrival two baby Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. The flippered additions marked the 10th dolphin calf to be born and successfully raised at Discovery Cove since its opening in 2000. The little newcomers – whose gender have yet to be determined – are nursing well and bonding with their mothers. The park also welcomed 18 southern stingray pups this spring. Mickey says no more ashtrays

Disney owned hotels ban smoking, no more smoking or non smoking options at Walt Disney World hotels. The ban reflects a national trend among hotels. If Disney finds that someone did light up a cleaning fee of $250.00 to $500.00 will be tacked onto the customers bill. That is to cover the replacements of fabrics such as draperies and bedding and deep cleaning of everything else. Click here for a list of Orlando Hotels

Keeping Florida on the move for the last 50 years

Since the first drivers rolled onto the Sunshine State Parkway in January 1957, Florida’s population has exploded and so has the need for safe, reliable roads to handle the increased traffic volume. As we celebrate Florida’s Turnpike’s 50th anniversary this year, it is imperative to mention how important SunPass is to our overall mission. SunPass, Florida’s prepaid electronic toll system, has been successful for both Florida’s Turnpike and our valued customers by helping keep traffic congestion to a minimum and improving traffic flow.
Currently, more than two million customers experience life in the SunPass lane. In our most recent customer survey, 92 percent of responders report they receive value from Florida’s Turnpike in the form of safety, service and convenience. Further, 96 percent said they would recommend using Florida’s Turnpike to family and friends.
We are committed to continually improving customer satisfaction by listening and responding to your needs, upgrading roadways and interchanges, implementing additional safety initiatives and making major investments in technology. New SunPass-only interchanges and open-road tolling facilities are planned to facilitate SunPass usage. Eventually, Florida’s Turnpike will be entirely electronic and paying tolls with cash will be a thing of the past. Customers will never have to wait in line to pay tolls, which will result in safer, faster roads.
The future for Florida’s Turnpike is definitely bright. We look forward to serving you for the next 50 years and beyond! Unitl next time, that’s life in the SunPass lane. For more traffic info click here orlando traffic
