Sikkim, one of my favorite Places

India is a vast country so people here often forget about some lesser known Places. Sikkim is one such place. Gangtok, which is the capital of sikkim is 5700 feet above sea level and bustling with activity. Trip to Sikkim at this time of the year is exciting as the temperature is not that high as many parts of the country. In Gangtok the Rumtek monastery is one of the famous place to visit. It is the seat of the Gywala Karmapa, the Supreme head of the Kagyupa order of Tibetan Budhism. The monastery is around 24km from Gangtok. Other famous place is chaangu lake which is 40 km from the city at a hight of 12400 km feet. Beside the beauty of the lake you can see the snow from very close quarters. People who lives in plains, snow is always been an exotic object. Words will not end if i start explaining the beauty of Sikkim. If you have still not visited this place don't wait longer.
