Wizarding World Opened for Limited Hours

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter reportedly opened on May 28 for limited hours to guests who had special vacation packages booked in advance.

Theme park bloggers said that the newest section of Universal Orlando Resort's Islands of Adventure opened from 8-10 a.m., allowing those vacationers with a hotel pass a chance to enjoy the shops and rides. Not many were able to experience the area's highlight ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, inside the massive Hogwarts castle, since it experienced technical problems and was out of service during most of that time, Internet reports said.

However, guests who were able to ride it described it as a cross between Soarin' at Epcot and Spider-Man at Islands of Adventure, but with robot-arm ride vehicles rather than standard ones, said one theme park blogger. The ride also features spiders, Dementors, Nagini and even the villain Voldemort, created through real effects and screens, bloggers said.

The revamped Dragon Challenge roller coaster, formerly Dueling Dragons, is reportedly staying open through a different entrance even when the rest of the Wizarding World closes.

The Wizarding World is slated to open to the general public June 18.
