Blizzard Beach reopens for season

After a couple of months of annual refurbishment, Walt Disney World’s Blizzard Beach water park reopened on March 24, which means that both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are open for the peak tourist season. During the winter months, Disney only keeps one water park open at a time while the other goes through regularly scheduled maintenance. Blizzard Beach is best known for its ski resort theme, complete with a ski lift and a few “icebergs” in the kids’ area.

It’s a sure sign that Spring Break is officially here when Walt Disney World has both water parks open. Spring hours are from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and will be extended during summer’s longer (and much hotter) days. Keep in mind that the water park crowds are largest between Memorial Day and Labor Day, when even the late afternoon thunderstorms don’t discourage visitors from taking a breaking from the Florida heat.
