Cataract extraction surgical operation

I went to Pattaya, Thailand to the Bangkok-Pattaya hospital to have a cataract removed from my left eye after hearing that the hospital's prestige for eye surgery was second to none in the world. There are some types of doing to remove cataracts but mine was done by ultra-sound. This report is more about the saving than the doing itself, but I will just run through that too as it has a bearing on the saving process.

Laser discharge of a cataract seems to be less invasive than what I had, but it is also less permanent, so I am lead to believe. In my case, the surgeon made a small incision of two millimetres just above the colour of my eye and inserted some fluid. She then vibrated that fluid with ultra-sound to break up the lens in my eye, after which she flushed the pieces of lens out with more fluid before inserting the new lens through the same hole.

Several things were quite amazing. The whole doing is carried out under local anaesthetic so you are aware the whole time. At one stage, I think it must have been when the lens smashed, I could see what looked like a broken pane of glass before me and then I was only aware of light, but I was blind. Then I felt a sharp shock, not quite pain, but not nice and I think that that was the lens being inserted and I could see a sort of dark disc before me. The disc was off-centre of my eye and the surgeon moved it and moved it again until it sat right. In a flash, I could see again and my first foresight was of the surgeon's smiling face about twelve inches from mine. She was gorgeous and bright.

'Bright' being the operative word. I had not realized how dingy my world had become. After all, a cataract is like having a net curtain over a window, it cuts out a lot of light. Therefore, the first thing you observation when you have had a cataract removed is a flood of light. Your world certainly is a brighter place - to such an extent that the light hurts. Pulling the curtains in the morning can be very painful, if you are unaware of the effects of the sunlight.

Be careful, it cannot cause continuing damage, but it certainly hurts. Someone else danger I am aware of is reflections. A passing car can reflect sunlight into your eye and catch you unawares. If you are seated, this probably will not bother you (except that it hurts), but if you are driving or riding a bike, it could be very dangerous, as a flash of strong light will cause you to close your eyes for some seconds.

The week following the doing is far more perilous than the doing itself. You have an open wound in your eye which they do not stitch. It is left to heal itself, which is not a problem, if you take care. You have to put two types of drops in your eye four times a day and avoid getting water in your eye at all costs. That means do not go out in the rain and don't wash your hair in the shower.

Dirt and consequential infection are your biggest enemies, so put the drops in regularly, avoid dust (and the powdered dog faeces mixed in with it) and all water and be very wary of light, especially if you are driving. I would recommend against climbing ladders too. Wear wrap-around, mirrored sunglasses.

Freehold or Leasehold Condo?

When you want to own a asset in Singapore, it is foremost to note if the asset you are buying a freehold or leasehold. The main unlikeness is the legal possession of the property.

Freehold

A freehold asset means that the buyer owns the condo and the title deed of it. The buyer will only pay the mortgage and not a monthly rent. Freehold condos are more high-priced than leasehold ones as you own the asset for as long as you want.

Leasehold

There are any types of leasehold properties in Singapore - 99-, 999- or 103- years. After the lease expires, the legal possession of the asset will go back to the government. However, the main advantage of this is that the price of the asset is often economy than the freehold one.

If your intention of buying a condo is stay in it for at least ten to twenty years, you might like to reconsider a freehold condo. This will ensure that the value of the condo will not depreciate in value the longer you stay. You can also leave it for your children when you grow old.

If you are generally curious in capital appreciation and will be selling off the condo in just a few years, you might be best off buying the leasehold condo since the outlay of first capital is lesser allowing a greater leverage.

Last but not least, always plan ahead and make sure you have keeping power when prices start to go south if you are beginning off with a small capital.

The Basics of Growing Flowers in Tropical Climates

Different types of flowers have adapted to grow naturally in the three distinct atmosphere zones of the globe. These zones consist of the tropical, temperate, and polar zones. Tropical flowers are are abundant, as many distinct plant species thrive in a atmosphere that is largely non-arid and warm. Flowers that are native to the tropics are those that grow naturally in areas that lie in the middle of the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer.

This area includes the most fertile areas of China, Africa, and South America. Other tropical locations consist of the Congo Basin, and parts of the United States, Mexico, and Australia. If you live in these areas, it is relatively easy to grow flowers native to the area, as native tropical flowers enjoy the warm temperatures and frequent rainfall these areas receive.

If you are curious in growing flowers in a tropical climate, you will have the most luck with growing tropical flowers. Some of the most favorite tropical flowers for the dahlias, Christmas orchids and other types of orchids, the African tulip, the Angel Wing begonia, lotus, jasmine, hibiscus, the blue passion flower, and many others. Tropical blooms are known for being fragrant and colorful, and most of them bloom throughout the year when planted in a native environment. Tropical flowers are truly a beautiful addition to gardens and yards, giving people beautiful landscapes and attracting birds and other species to enjoy their nectar and natural coverage.

You can try to grow flowers from other climates such as the temperate and polar zones in a tropical landscape, but largely you will need to grow these in a greenhouse setting where you can control the rainfall and temperature these plants receive. Plants that are not native to the tropical atmosphere may not thrive in such a warm, wet atmosphere as you would find in the Tropics.

Many of these are authentically legitimate in their work and advertisement, any way luxury accommodations are not by and large sold from the internet.

If you are in the store for a luxury home, be certain that what you are paying for is what you get. Because a home is listed as a luxury home does not mean it hasn't seen wear and tear or that all in the home is in apple pie working order.
Take time to check those things which you don't ordinarily check and do be certain to get a home inspector to look at those things with which you are not familiar.
A home inspection can cost a cheap amount, but what it saves can sometimes be worth far more than the price you paid the inspector to come out.

Homes which are more upscale will of policy cost upscale amounts. What you are paying for at times will be not only the amenities such as add ons to the home, but also the good neighborhood, the closeness to the schools and the capability to shop in close proximity.

When searching for a luxury home, its best to visit any homes and make the rounds of realtors in your area prior to making any final decisions.
Many times buyers, particularly first time buyers are so eager to make that buy and decide down that they overlook a deal just colse to th projection on a home that might suit them better, or give them a best price for nearly the same home purchase.
If in fact you select to purchase your luxury home convention built, study the builders and speak with others in the arear for whom they have built homes.
The purchase of a home in an area of upscale real estate values will be far more when built for your specifications than one which is already built.

It's tough to move up the collective ladder if you're born in Isaan. Most of the time, your choice is between hard work on the farm or take a low paying job in a factory, store or office. It's easy to see why Pattaya, with its shiny lights and neon glow can be such a draw.

Many Thai girls know man who have gone to Pattaya to work in the bars or hotels and then they suddenly show up one day with a foreign boyfriend. They now have nice clothes and costly cell phone and have travelled to places that most in Isaan have only seen in Tv or read about. Simulated Skydiving is Close to Real

If you have ever determined skydiving but are afraid of for real taking "the plunge", you may be a candidate for simulated sky diving. Those who have tried Imax theater experiences, where the screen is able to faithfully replicate a real world caress will understand how close simulated visuals can be to the real thing. When you add the true movement of a plane, add the wind pressure and the falling caress to a optic simulation, you will have as close to the full caress of skydiving without for real doing it.

The history of this arresting sport began in 1964 when, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, wind tunnels were industrialized in order to train forces paratroopers to learn to sky jump. There were successfully used in the training of the elite Golden Knights, the Strategic Army Corps Parachute Team. This group still is in existence today.

Simulated skydiving for the general group was introduced by Flyaway Indoor Skydiving of Las Vegas in 1982. They vast into a second location shortly thereafter by chance their Pigeon Forge Tennessee operation. This forward mental company has made it fun, safe and prudent for almost anyone to enjoy the excitement of skydiving.

Here is what simulated skydiving is: a skydiver enters a tunnel, adequate just as any other skydiver would be dressed in goggles, helmet and jumpsuit. This vertical tunnel has air propelled through it at over 120mph. Because of the propulsion of the wind against the body of the jumper, he has the potential to skydive in the tunnel. This is the safest way to caress skydiving without jumping out of a plane, and it is good for anyone, as long as they meet clear minimum and maximum weight requirements.

You do have to be instructed to a clear extent, so don't think that you will skip the training period of skydiving altogether. You will view some instructions as to how to align your body during the "flight", what the proper hand signals are to the operator, and how to "fall" safely. You are not for real falling, although you have the sense of it. You feel as though you are falling from a plane, but there is no danger whatsoever.

Outside of the small instructions necessary, you don't have to have special training or skills to try simulated skydiving. Falling through the air as if from a plane is easy and fun and something that every person in the family, except for the littlest ones, can enjoy together.

Thailand - A Place To Visit

Thailand, the perfect place to visit for hot, sunny holidays.

After traveling a lot to Thailand and around the country I want to share some of my contact with you. You can find practically everything you want there except snow.

When you plan your trip to Thailand there are 3 usual places to arrive, Bangkok, Phuket or Chang Mai.

If you arrive in Bangkok you are in the middle of the country and have lots of opportunities from there. Bangkok is a huge city with lots of habitancy (estimated 12 million with tourists) and it is a very busy place to stay for a long period. There are a few things that should be seen in Bangkok and one of them is Grand Palace. To get in there you need to corollary the rules of clothing (shorts is not allowed in there). A boat trip on the river is very nice and you can see a t from the boats. Bangkok also have great opportunities for shopping with many huge shopping centers. When you stay in Bangkok, make sure you also visit the floating market and the Silom area. From Bangkok the drive is not far to the party place Pattaya or the quiet city of Hua Hin.

If you arrive in the south of Thailand, Phuket, you will find a more quiet place with great beaches. The area in the south also offers a lot of sights. If you go south and want to go for a party you can visit Patong, which is a smaller scaled Pattaya. The south of Thailand has the same temperatures as the central parts of the country, but the south is a bit more wet and rainy. While staying in south you should reconsider a trip to the many islands, you will find a lot of great untouched nature there.

The north of Thailand i quite different from the other 2 places. The temperatures are lower there and the air feels more fresh. Chang Mai is the biggest city, but Chang Rai is also of a positive size. The north can not offer sea and beaches like the central parts and the south, but they have a lot of great nature. It is known to be a very "green" area, some habitancy call it the lounges of Thailand.

This was just a short overview from my trips in Thailand, and after visiting the country lots of times I will very strongly suggest it to in fact everyone.

Food Review: Papa John's Pizza-Berjaya Times Square-Kuala Lumpur

With the tagline "Better Ingredients-Better Pizza" this American pizza chain came to our shore with its first restaurant in Berjaya Times Square.Todate i believe ive sampled all kinds of pizzas from all the pizza chains available in Malaysia from Pizza Hut to Dominos, Canadian 2-in-1 and Shakey's..just to name few familiar names. I haven't had the chance to try Yellow Cab pizza though. So, out of curiosity I decided to give Papa John's pizza a try last weekend.

the menu

here you may opt for original crust or thin crust.further pizzas here are eaten with special dipping sauces of tomato and garlic butter.sounds weird? i was quite skeptical at first but after tasting the sauces, especially the garlic butter sauce i can say that these sauces are one of the winning factor for this restaurant.
  choices of appetizers..........
drinks, desserts and set meals menu...........
now the real deal. I ordered Vanilla Float for drink, baked meat balls and two types of pizzas i.e Super Papa's and Fisherman's Catch.Vanilla Float......thick and smooth Vanilla ice cream melting into ice-cold Coke...a refreshing drink to start of the meal........ then came the piping hot Baked Meat Balls. I really love the generous portion of melted cheese on top which nicely complemented the sourish tomato sauce base. The meat balls were nicely baked resulting in nice texture which were not rock- hard our Super Papa's served afterwards......the topping was a combination of pepperoni, italian sausage, chicken roll, mushroom, onions, green and black peppers spread on top of the dough with generous amount of mozzarella accompanying it...........i also love the original crust which was not too thick nor thin wherein you can still taste the crispiness of the baked dough and the moist texture of the dough in the inner layer of the base of the toppings...........our Fisherman's catch........this was my favourite of that day... they were not stingy on the cheese here as you can see the topping was literally coated under the mount of cheese.........the topping consisted of shrimps, crab meat, tuna, green peppers and onions.
ambiance of the restaurant...........overall i was satisfied with the taste of the pizzas and appetizer served here. You can simply tell the different with the taste and texture of the other pizza chains. I'm eager to sample more choices of pizzas and foods served in Papa John's. It will be more convenient to all those wanted to try something new with the opening of new branches around KL and latest that i heard they have started operating in Alpha Angle Shopping Complex, Wangsa Maju-.Kay 2011- http://about-hilton-hotels.blogspot.com/

Travel Trekk-Ho Chi Minh City-Vietnam-Part 1

This is the 4th capital city in ASEAN that ive visited to date after Singapore, Bangkok & Jakarta. Not much right...however i have visited other cities in ASEAN such as Bali, Phuket, Bandung and almost all of the towns at the outskirts of Bangkok, not that those are capital city of the country though. Correct me if im wrong but i do regard Ho Chi Minh as the capital of south Vietnam, knowing that there's Hanoi on the north. Our flight with Malaysia Airlines took about 1.45 hours and we landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport around 4pm local time. It's a quiet airport with separate terminal for international and domestic flights. There's no immigration form to be submitted upon arrival which i believe is really a convenient for tourist visiting Vietnam.
the airport........

in our taxi-van..enroute to the city.the journey took around 35 minutes.notice the abundance of motorcycles here.

we stayed in Saigon Mini Hotel 2..a budget hotel but the room was comfortable and adequately furnished...my room was equipped with 2 queen sized bed which was quite a surprise considering the size of the room........

our first day was spent walking around the city centre area...it was fun walking around Ho Chi Minh at night especially at its parks as the locals loved to hang-out with friends/families/loved ones in these areas making the night alive with sport activities/games or just sitting on their bikes looking at the passing traffics........there are also bars by the roadsides, coffee joints and night markets lighting up the city's night life......

the next day we took a one day tour along the Mekong River. This tour was booked via the hotel and cost us around USD 11 only, inclusive of lunch. We started our journey in a mini bus for an hour-long ride to the boat pier located outside of Ho Chi Minh.

motorbikes everywhere..........

entering the freeway.....note that this looks newly constructed..the infrastructure in and around the city are still at its infancy........
sugar cane plantation seen along the way........
bridge across the Mekong River..................
and the great river itself......
finally we arrived at the boat pier........
for a joyride along the Mekong in this traditional wooden boat......

on this boat trip, we were taken on a visit of traditional Vietnamese villages, each with distinct local industry and produce such as rice paper making, coconut candy factory, honey, handicrafts and traditional medicines.....

fisheries...........
our first stop..rice paper making centre.......here we were demonstrated with the techniques of making rice paper and sample were distributed for us to taste...it doesn't have any distinct taste as it acts as a wrap to other ingredients especially when used in making spring roll......

cooking process........

layering process..............
the finished product..ready for sale........
souvenir stall...selling mostly products made of snake skin...they really love their snakes here........
we stopped for a short but elaborate lunch..with spring roll of fresh river fish as its main highlight.......

the fish.........

pieces of fish and some rice are placed on rice paper
then wrapped..and ready to be dipped in the specially made sauce........yummy.....
other dishes served on the table..some were non-halal though.....

continuing our boat trip..and we came across this floating rest-house..specially created for honey-mooners...
our next stop is the honey producing centre...wherein you will find not only honey on sale...but also this.....needless to note that im not a fan of reptiles....it's really a task for me to upload the above pic.......in this honey producing centre..we were served with hot chinese tea mixed with honey...the honey here has a distinct taste of Longan as they fed on the nectar of Longan flower, whereby the same fruit is being planted in large quantity here.........hot tea being poured into small cups.....the bees on display to the tourist....honey based products and royal jelly,,,which cost a bomb but said to be beneficial to one's beauty.next...donkey ride...yes...we were taken on a donkey cart ride across the Vietnamese village to our next stop...really exciting and thrilling ride i must say...our next stop is to sample local fruits produced and be entertained by local folks song by local singers...count the "local" term being repeated here :)we were then taken to another mode of transportation...sampan. This sampan ride was to take us through the narrow canals back to our boat and then to our last stop of the day, coconut candy factory...the coconut factory...here spinning machine in full swing to mix the ingredients for the candy.........cutting and packing process and the final product...........we left the Mekong around 6pm and arrived at the city just right for dinner. Next up is our half-day tour around the city if Ho Chi Minh in Part 2-Kay2011 http://about-hilton-hotels.blogspot.com/
